Starting an auto detailing business

This is another rapidly growing business that can make money quickly. Starting a car detailing business is easy and inexpensive. I helped my 18 year old daughter start a at your home car was business last year. Within a month she had two of her friends helping her she had so much work.

There are really two keys to starting a successfull car detailing or car wash business. Getting customers and doing the job quickly. Getting customers was surprisingly easy. We created fliers to pass out door to door, and another flier with the phone number tabs at the bottom to place on grocery store bulletin boards. The real benefit was that once she got a customer someone next door would always want their car detailed as well.

Cleaning the car quickly just takes practice. The important thing is to get in a routine so that you don't miss anything. Start with the inside picking up the garbage, vacuum the carpets, and clean the windows. The start with the wheels, clean the outside of the car, and the clean the windows on the outside. The quicker you get the more money you make.

Auto detailing is probably to strong a term. What you're really doing is cleaning the inside and outside of the car with a dry cleaning product. Some customers will be more than glad to let you use their hose but prepare for all jobs to be cleaned without water. Their are scores of dry car cleaning products on the market and most of the ones we tried worked quite well. They are basically just squirt bottles and you use a rag to wipe off the car.

All you really need to start an auto detailing business

A portable wet dry vacuum

Dry wash cleaner

Plenty of rags (you can never have too many!)

Something to clean the windows.

A small can of carpet cleaner

SOS pads or scotch brite to clean those wheels.

Armour all to add the finishing touches.

Something to clean interior leather, vinyl.
